upper respiratory tract infection

upper respiratory tract infection :

INTRODUCTION:

A viral illness that affects the upper respiratory tract, which includes the
nose, throat, sinuses, and upper airways, is called an upper respiratory
infection (URI), sometimes referred to as the common cold. This is a
common illness that is usually brought on by rhinoviruses, though
Coronavirus and influenza viruses can also be the cause.
SYMPTOMS OF UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION:
A common upper respiratory infection symptom list is as follows:
1- stuffy or runny nose
2- sneezing
3- a sore throat
4- Coughing
5Congestion
6- little aches and pains in the body
7- Fever of low grade
CAUSES Of  UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION:
when your respiratory system is infected with a virus or bacteria. For instance, you might shake hands with a sick individual or touch a contaminated surface. Next, you give your lips, nose, or eyes a touch. Your body becomes contaminated by the bacteria on your hands.

INVESTIGATION:

Verifying bacterial URI pathogens using the culture of throat swabs, nasal swabs or washes, or nasal aspirates is still the norm. Instead of the mouth cavity, samples are obtained from the tonsils or posterior pharynx.

MEDICATION OF UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION:

The majority of URI cases are self-limiting, meaning that they won't require
special care and will go away on their own in a week or two. On the other hand,
pain management techniques including relaxation, drinking plenty of water, and
using over-the-counter drugs like decongestants or pain killers can help control
discomfort.
If a patient is in critical condition then Antibiotics are used by the prescription of a physician.

SELF -CARE:

1-Obtain lots of sleep.
2-To help with coughing and mucus loosing, drink lots of water.
3-To relieve a cough, sip a hot beverage made with lemon and honey (not recommended for infants under a year old).
4-If you have a sore throat, gargle with warm, salted water (children should not do this).
